What Drives You? Business Advice from our Fathers
Our dads are special; hard working, caring, and often the best givers of advice from their years of living and learning. To offer good project management, we know that experience is everything.
But where do EPS employees get their hard earned experience? Sure, it’s from years of schooling and working in the field, yet often these work values are also passed down from our nearest and dearest – our dads!
In line with EPS values of Loyalty and Commitment, Safety and Quality, Respect and Teamwork, the EPS team asked our dads their top business advice to share this Father’s day.
Joseph Konney, Project Director
Wise words from Mr. Konney Senior: “LISTEN MORE and speak less in order to succinctly articulate your point!”
As a seasoned Engineer and Senior Project Manager, Jospeh certainly emulates his dad’s point of listening when managing large project teams. Go Joseph!
Mahir Ameen, Operations Manager
A constantly iterated phrase Ameen Senior posed on young Mahir growing up, and apparently, still to this day: “I told you not to!”
Well this explains where much of our office humor comes from. At EPS, we push our employees to be innovators by never being afraid to experiment with unique ways of doing things. Mahir regularly enacts this policy by finding new, unforeseen ways to break the office printer.
Ryan Dueck, Design Manager
A highly driven Dueck Senior imposed these teaching words on his son: “It’s not worth doing if you’re not going to do it right.”
Well, Mr.Dueck, we are glad you instilled these values on Ryan young. Considering he is our Senior Design Manager, we are glad he offers an exceptional attention to detail.
Harpreet Singh, Co-Founder
The senior Singh says a few impactful and inspiring words: “Honesty is the best policy” and “Pay your employees and vendors first before you pay yourself” as well as “Charity begins at home, always help your family no matter what. Grow together and leave no one behind.”
Need we say more? Working for a company like EPS that embodies these values makes employees happy, motivated and confident in their work. Thank you Mr. Singh!
Victoria Ross, Marketing Manager
Mr. Ross, the boss of Victoria’s household always said: “If your job is doing something you enjoy, you will never work a day in your life”
Victoria’s father definitely instilled a creative approach that drove a strong work ethic. When Victoria not bouncing between meetings, she’s in her bright pink office and says the hardest part of her day is deciding which of the 5 chairs she wants to sit in.
Saving the most sentimental for last, we have EPS Co-Founder, Mark Oleniuk’s dad share his words of wisdom.
An entrepreneur of 30 years, Mr. Oleniuk senior certainly had some words of wisdom:
“Don’t sweat the small stuff, enjoy the little things in life, because life is shorter than you think, so work as hard as you play”
Inspiring!
Aside from taking a humorous approach to life, what do all of our dads have in common? These patriarchs value a strong work ethic and being part of collaborative team. Perhaps that’s why we all ended up at EPS. As we power forward on new and exciting projects, these great ideas from our smart-thinking fathers will always be in the back of our minds.
